“Final Destination” creator Jeffrey Reddick is overseeing the film, which co-stars Adi Shankar and Katie Parker.
Mischa Barton (“The OC”), Drew Fuller (“Army Wives”), Katie Parker (“Absentia”) and “Dredd” executive producer Adi Shankar are set to star in “Cloudland,” a supernatural thriller coming together under the oversight of “Final Destination” creator Jeffrey Reddick, TheWrap has learned.
Reddick created the project and will share story credit with Alex Bram, who will make his feature directorial debut with “Cloudland.” Bram also co-wrote the script with Martin Aguilera. Reddick will oversee production.
Story follows a young journalist (Fuller) who investigates a religious cult’s terrifying prophecy after the paranormal murder of his younger sister (Parker).
Barton will play Fuller’s editor and love interest, while Shankar (pictured above) will play an intimidating member of the cult.
While Shankar is best known as an indie producer and film financier, he recently played an unrecognizable role alongside Ryan Reynolds and Anna Kendrick in Marjane Satrapi’s “The Voices,” which he also produced through his 1984 Privste Defense Contractors banner.
“The more we discussed the story, the more I realized that this had such a rich mythology, and strong characters, that we were talking about a franchise that I believe can be just as successful as ‘Final Destination.’ It’s a riveting, edge-of-your seat ride, and Alex and Martin Aguilera really knocked the script out of the park,” said Reddick.
VFX company PRPVFX (“Evil Dead”) will bring the script’s surreal elements to life, while Mark Lanza (“Independence Day”) will handle sound design for “Cloudland,” which starts production this fall in Los Angeles.
Reddick is represented by Anarchy Management, while Bram is repped by Allensworth Entertainment. Aguilera is repped by Vol. Unlimited. Parker is represented by Affirmative Entertainment and attorney Joel VanderKloot. Barton is repped by Artist International and manager Nuala Barton, Fuller is repped by the Gersh Agency and Untitled Entertainment.

Check out this new interview of Mischa talking all things bridal-related to Wedding Ideas Mag. In case you missed it, Mischa took part in a beautiful shoot for the Intuzuri 2014 Bridal Collection last year.
Wedding Ideas caught up with The OC star on the set of her new film in Rome to have an exclusive chat about her recent collaboration with bridal designers Intuzuri and what she has in mind for her own big day…
Which is your favourite gown from the latest Intuzuri collection?
This is a really tough question as there are so many gowns in the Intuzuri new collection that I absolutely love! I particularly adore Berkhaya, I find it extremely sophisticated yet very romantic with a vintage feel. The Intuzuri shoot was so much fun! The entire Intuzuri team have been so great and I did feel like a princess trying on so many gorgeous gowns.
What are your top 3 wedding dress shopping tips?
My first advice would be to follow your instinct, to forget about what is trendy right now, listen to your heart and look for a dress that reflects your personality and your style.
The second tip would be to start looking for your dream dress as soon as you can so you have plenty of time to do your research, find out which brands you love and then search for your closest stockists.
My final advice would be to look for a dress with a good structure which will help enhance your curves and gives you the best shape. That’s why I adore the Intuzuri gowns, they all have an incredible fits which give you an amazing silhouette.
What would your dream wedding day look like?
I grew up in New York and for me this is still one of my favourite cities in the world, so I would definitely consider getting married in the Big Apple. I want my wedding to be classic, beautiful and elegant but I also want it to be fun! And I love colour, so that will play a big part.
Do you think women should try to lose weight for their wedding day?
Absolutely not! I support the idea that every woman should celebrate their bodies and their curves and feel confident in her own skin. Saying that I think it’s really important to lead a healthy lifestyle which will make you look and feel better on the day.
What would be your first dance song?
It would have to be Lovesong by The Cure.
What are the three most important qualities a husband should have?
I definitely look for a guy who makes laugh, and who doesn’t take himself too seriously. A perfect husband should also be caring, attentive and supportive.
What’s next for Mischa Barton?
I am currently shooting a new movie in Rome of which I can’t say much about! But I can definitely reveal that I have started to work again on my handbags line and on the Mischa Barton e-commerce site which I hope to relaunch very soon.

Michael Madsen and Daniel Baldwin will co-star in the crime film from mew [sic] Italian production and finance group AMBI Pictures.
Mischa Barton (The O.C.) and Danny Trejo (Machete Kills) have signed on to star in Hope Lost, a new crime thriller being financed and produced by Italian company AMBI Pictures.
B-movie favorites Michael Madsen (Sin City) and Daniel Baldwin (Vampires) have signed on to co-star in the feature set in the world of sex trafficking. Italian director David Petrucci will helm the feature. Shooting is set to kick off later this month in Rome.
Barton will play a young Romanian girl, bored with small town life, who dreams of entering the glamorous world she sees on Italian soap operas. One night at a club she meets Gabriele, who claims to be a TV producer who wants to cast her in a reality TV show he is making in Italy. But when she arrives, she is sold to the pimp Manol ( Madsen) and forced to make her living on the street. Things get darker with the arrival of Ettore (Trejo), a sadist who makes snuff movies.
AMBI toppers Andrea Iervolino and Monika Bacardi will produce Hope Lost together with Cosetta Turco. Danielle Maloni is the executive producer.
The feature is the latest on AMBI’s slate, which includes the Phillip Roth adaptation The Humbling, which Barry Levinson is attached to direct and has Al Pacino, Mandy Patinkin, Kyra Sedgwick, Charles Grodin and Dianne Wiest attached to star.
The Rome-based group recently wrapped production on the action thriller Sights of Death, which stars Danny Glover, Daryl Hannah and Rutger Hauer alongside Madsen and Stephen Baldwin.

It has been making the rounds across blogs and indie mags over the last few days, so I’m a little late posting. But anyway, here is Mischa’s debut as a cult member of the Church of Nobody as a guest star for Willis Earl Beal’s “Coming Through” video.
It’s kind of equal parts strange as it is funny – but overall it’s a really cool (also creppy) concept. The video runs for over 10 minutes.
Press play on the photo above to view.
Actress Mischa Barton guest stars as a cult member in the video for Willis Earl Beal’s song, ‘Coming Through’.
The 10 minute long video for the Cat Power-featuring song – from last year’s ‘Nobody Knows’ album – sees the former star of The OC as a member of Beal’s Church Of Nobody, a cult-like group based in New Mexico. The video is made up of grainy camcorder footage and veers on the NSFW. Click above to watch the video.
The video features a large scale version of a piece of Beal’s art, called Mischa, why the pencil?. Speaking last year to NME about the drawing, Beal commented: “The concept is really abstract. I think Mischa Barton is pretty attractive, so I drew her and myself stood behind her, but nothing specifically is happening… I’ve drawn quite a few lascivious pictures and there aren’t meant to be themes to them – I guess I’m just a person who likes to draw attractive women.”
