Photos of Mischa at the VRC Oaks Club Luncheon in Melbourne, Australia, have been added. Mischa looks beautiful in a dress by another Australian designer – Nicola Finetti. She’s also wearing another hat by Philip Treacy. Absolutely perfect for another event at the races! What a great few days.

Here are a couple of videos that feature snippets of Mischa interviewed at the Melbourne Cup.

This third video features an Australian radio host from the Fifi & Jules show posing with Mischa pretending to take a photo when they’ve actually left the camera on video mode intentionally to see how long she’d last. Funny!

It’s the race that stops a nation and is arguably the biggest social event of the year in Australia – the Melbourne Cup. Mischa was front and centre as the special guest of Emirates and Victoria Racing Club where she led the fashion stakes on a day that touts hats and champagne as important as the race itself. Mischa wore a custom made dress by Australian designer Ellery with a stunning hat by her friend Philip Treacy. Her other accessories included shoes and a clutch by Louis Vuitton, jewellery by Cartier and sunglasses by Karen Walker.

Joining Mischa at the event was her mum Nuala. Friend and Revenge star Ashley Madekwe, who wore a dress by another Aussie label Camilla and Marc, was also in attendance.

The actress remembers her first visit to Australia.

“I’ve been going to the races since I was a kid with my dad,” said Mischa Barton at her first Melbourne Cup at the Emirates marquee. “I had a bet on the fourth race and lost. For Melbourne Cup, I bet on Calvary Man and Galileo’s Choice. Being Irish, I’ve got to support the Irish horses.”

Designer Kym Ellery designed Barton’s outfit for the occasion, which she paired with Louis Vuitton clutch and shoes, gold Karen Walker sunglasses, Cartier jewellery and a Philip Treacy hat.

As well as Ellery, her other favourite Australian designers include Easton Pearson, Lover, Sass & Bide, Manning Cartell and Ksubi.

First coming to Australia at the age of 16 to film a movie on the Gold Coast, Barton has fond memories of her time here. “I travelled and Port Douglas and throughout Queensland and I loved it,” she says. “I would love to travel when I’m not doing press.”

She’s due to return to London shortly to finish performing in the play Steel Magnolias, before she starts shooting for three upcoming films.

HOLLYWOOD stars Mischa Barton and Rose Byrne were among the VIPs who made a bigger splash on Melbourne Cup day than the rain.

Barton was the “headline” act among the Hollywood identities who shimmied in the Birdcage area on Tuesday, while Byrne was the biggest home-grown star on the scene.

The Real Housewives Of Beverly Hills cast member Taylor Armstrong and sassy Revenge siren Ashley Madekwe also partied with local celebrities in the VIP compound at Flemington.

Barton was the first to make her mark by arriving early, catching photographers off-guard and wowing the guests in the Emirates marquee.

She took time to walk through the marquee, stopping to have chats with several Seven Network hosts, including gushing entertainment reporter James Tobin.

The star of The OC was taken with the laid-back nature of the event, which she said was in stark contrast to her visits to the races in England.

“It’s more laid back than I thought it would be and it’s easier here,” Barton told reporters.

“England is quite a big production and I really like it here … it’s nice.

“This experience has been generally pretty laid back … everyone wants to have fun and have a nice day.”

Barton was a guest of the Victoria Racing Club and its major sponsor Emirates.

A LUXURY weekend in the Blue Mountains has helped Mischa Barton prepare for the Melbourne Cup.

Barton, who shot to stardom as Marissa Cooper in The O.C., relaxed at the secluded conservation-based Wolgan Valley Resort and Spa after slipping into Australia over the weekend.

She spent time exploring the 4000-acre property and its views, sampling local and regional produce and indulging in a spa treatment.

“Wolgan Valley is absolutely stunning and a thoroughly relaxing experience,” Barton said.

“From the private villas to its commitment to caring for its wildlife and environment, the resort is spectacular in so many ways.

“I was especially thrilled to see so many kangaroos roaming freely on the land.”

The resort was the first carbon-neutral hotel in the world, and borders the Blue Mountains World Heritage Area.

Barton will be a special guest of Emirates at the Melbourne Cup on Tuesday.

Mischa Barton along for the ride

STAR Mischa Barton caused a stir in the city when she met 2000 Melbourne Cup winner Brew by the Yarra.

The stunning actor, who shot to fame in the hit TV series The OC and has her own fashion label, arrived in town yesterday to attend the 152nd running of the Cup as a special guest of the VRC and Emirates.

“He was a sweet horse, really well behaved considering all the crowds,” Barton said.

Brew will join Might and Power, Doriemus, Rogan Josh, Saintly and Subzero at the Emirates Melbourne Cup Parade down Swanston St today.

“I’ve been to the Derby and Ascot, but I hear this (the Melbourne Cup) is even bigger,” Barton said.

She hopes to meet Prince Charles and Camilla who will also be special guests on Cup day.

Barton will wear a custom-made dress by an Australian designer and a headpiece by good friend and renowned milliner Philip Treacy for Cup Day.

Melbourne Cup organisers have lured their first celebrity to the November racing extravaganza, with Mischa Barton set to attend the Dublin-themed Emirates Marquee.

Barton is currently combining highly successful careers in both fashion and entertainment. Next month, she returns to the stage in an Irish production of Steel Magnolias with Australian actress Anne Charleston.

Born to an Irish mother and with a grandfather who was Gaelic language professor at the University of Belfast, organisers hope Ms Barton will be a glamorous addition to the exclusive Irish-themed Emirates Marquee on Emirates Melbourne Cup Day.

It has been inspired by the famous landmarks of Ireland’s capital and Trinity College. Ms Barton will then join the Victoria Racing Club (VRC) chairman Michael Burn to watch the race in the Chairman’s Suite.

“I am so looking forward to being a guest of Emirates and the Victoria Racing Club at the Emirates Melbourne Cup,” said Ms Barton.

“I am excited to visit Flemington racecourse and witness what I understand is an extraordinary fashion spectacle.

“Being of Irish descent, I’m sure I will feel right at home in the Emirates Marquee and I can’t wait to be involved in this world-famous event.”

Mr Burn said the VRC was looking forward to welcoming the international beauty to Flemington for Emirates Melbourne Cup Day. “Ms Barton’s presence emphasises the international appeal of the Melbourne Cup Carnival.

“We have no doubt her time at Flemington will be one that she fondly remembers,” he said.

Boutros Boutros, Senior Vice President, Corporate Communication, Emirates Airline, said: “We are delighted to host Mischa Barton on Emirates Melbourne Cup Day, as we celebrate Dublin, which earlier this year joined Emirates’ ever expanding global network.”

Joining Barton on her trip to Australia will be her boyfriend, London-based actor Sebastian Knapp. The pair will reportedly spend time at Emirates luxurious Wolgan Valley Resort & Spa, located in the Blue Mountains World Heritage Area.
