The following is a review of the script for Mischa’s upcoming TV show “The Beautiful Life”. Thanks to Charlie from TVScriptDude for sending it in.

Very early review of The Beautiful Life

I received a few weeks ago The Beautiful Life but didn’t really notice it until I heard this would mark Mischa Barton come back on tv. Not that I care or anything, but that just makes this show one of the most anticipated for the next season, yes, really.
Top models living together in New York, it does sound really cliche and while I was waiting for another Vampire Diaries monstrosity, it turns out The Beautiful Life has a lot to offer.

Chris is the small town genuinely nice guy who, while travelling to New York will catch the eye of Simon, a gay talent scout (how original), that offers to meet him at the agency where he will then meet Raina. They both click right away, and the development of their relation interests quickly thanks to a great writing that makes you wonder how Raina managed to stay so down to earth and naive in such a competitive world.

The characters are ordinary as I expected but it’s quickly proven that they are not so one note and cliche as you would think. Especially the naive Raina who just had her big break played by Sara Paxton. For the rest, it’s a CW pilot therefore I was expecting the show to focus on the beautiful and the pleasant part of the fashion world but The Beautiful Life, au contraire, focuses wisely on the dark part of modelling. Addictions to all sorts of things, bulimia and much more are parts of these teenagers’ life. There are some interesting but hard subjects to talk about, first because it’s easy to become too light on subjects that shouldn’t be treated so and then because the lack of knowledge is obvious (but I guess it’s kinda too early to talk).

I’m also glad a good spec script can make it these days, especially considering the fact that most of the next season’s TV shows are coming from writers with a huge background. I mean, Adam Giaudrone only has two credits at IMDB (South Beach and Swingtown) and the network might actually get something good out of this.
Finally, this pilot is well done, and if I manage not to comeback for week two next season, it will be the CW’s fault for destroying a script who could be above everything the network has done these last years.

I’ve also read the script and as I mentioned on the Twitter page, it is really awesome! Mischa made a great choice with this one.

Mischa’s official blog was updated with a sneak peak at a Versace Spring 2009 dress that Mischa will be wearing in her new pilot Beautiful Life.

Hey guys!  Sorry it’s been a while since my last post — I started production this week on the pilot I’m shooting in Montreal, A Beautiful Life.  I’m having an amazing time, but I’m super busy!

Anyway, just wanted to share a photo of this dress that Versace sent me to wear in the pilot.  It’s from the Spring 2009 collection and it’s basically my character’s signature dress for the episode.  Isn’t it stunning???

I’ll try to post more pics of me actually wearing the dress but until then, just wanted to reveal this little detail!

Supermodel Elle Macpherson is returning to acting with a recurring role on CW’s drama pilot “Beautiful Life.”

The CBS Par-produced project revolves around a group of models living together in a co-ed residence in New York.

Macpherson will play Claudia, the owner of Focus Models, the top modeling agency in New York. She is an ’80s supermodel who is still in great shape and runs her business with the efficiency and toughness of a dictator.

Like her character, Macpherson was an ’80s supermodel. In fact, together with Linda Evangelista, Christy Turlington, Naomi Campbell, Paulina Porizkova and Cindy Crawford, she became part of the first generation of supermodels.

In the 1990s, she segued into acting. But after appearing in a string of movies, including “The Edge,” “If Lucy Fell” and “Batman & Robin” and recurring on NBC’s “Friends” in the late 1990s, Macpherson left Hollywood to focus on her business empire, whose portfolio of products includes workout videos, calendars, lingerie and beauty products.

Now Macpherson, repped by Fortitude, is making her acting comeback with “Beautiful Life.”

In the pilot, she joins Mischa Barton, Ben Hollingsworth, Sara Paxton, Ashley Madekwe and Nico Tortorella.

Beautiful Life

The latest rumor Mischa Barton would like to debunk is she’s not appearing on the Melrose Place remake. Instead, the former O.C. star will make her return to the small screen with a role on another CW show, A Beautiful Life, produced by Ashton Kutcher.

“Ashton developed it about his life growing up as a model from Iowa, so it’s about the whole fashion world that he was in, and obviously I have a lot of friends in the fashion world, so I’m used to being around a lot of people in that,” Barton tells PEOPLE on Thursday night at a GQ magazine-hosted party to celebrate new men’s fragrance Burberry the Beat.

And Barton, who recently attended the fashion shows in Paris, promises to put the catty in catwalker. “[I play] a bitchy model-type character, like it’s a totally different character for me,” says Barton, who starts shooting as Sonia, a successful model who keeps the competition at bay but also advises the younger ones, at the end of the month.

Aside from modeling experience, the former face of Dooney & Burke has something else in common with Kutcher – a desire to reach out to fans directly. While Kutcher favors Twitter, Barton has recently taken to her own blog to “clear up all the misconceptions.”

Like what? “Like right now I’m supposedly too skinny. I just had to release a comment about how I’m eating enough and I’m healthy,” says Barton, who nibbled on a sweet onion tart with mushroom and a burger during the event. “I’m more concerned for young girls these days … and I think it’s important that you say I’m comfortable and I’m fine and you should to be too because it’s, like, silly … You’re always too skinny or too fat or too something.”

Other things she wants to clear up: “Like places I go, what kind of people I hang out with, what I’m like, if I’m a party girl, if I have issues … my real fans might go there and check out the music I like, the books I read, stuff like that.” Adds Barton, who also just broke the news of her breakup on her official Web site, “It’s just the best way for me to clarify things and show people who I really am.”
